This marae had no hot water supply and its kitchen needed an upgrade. The project application was for kitchen renovations and hot water installation at the Maroa Marae.
The old kitchen area was unsuitable for catering for the numbers of whanau at the marae.
The project involved demolition of the old kitchen, installation of gas hot water system, installation of a new modular kitchen and a new gas stove.
The project began on 16 December 2008 with the successful funding application and was completed on December 31 2008 with the electrical components of the project being completed.

Clear the sacred pathway,And let those who care for the hinterland, be as one with those who reside by the seaside. Let those who care for the seaside, be of one thought with those of the hinterland, only then will the care of the environment be secured forever.
